Charles Ben Small Biography:

At age 29, Charles Benjamin Kruger is making an impact on the art community in South Africa that leaves even the critics confounded. Growing up in a "not so typical" South African home with his mother, Jana Du Toit, being one of the leading artists in the Southern African art market, and his father being a prominent art dealer, he quickly developed a love for art that would continue to inspire him through his growing up years. He draws inspiration from artists such as Adriaan Boshoff, Frans Claerhout, Pieter van der Westhuizen and Portchie, however, the flamboyant colours and independence in his mother's paintings has had an effect on his style of art most of all.

Charles sees art in everything, he maintains that there is no wrong way to do art. Every creative piece of art has the potential within itself to involve the spectator in a personal way, whatever the response. According to Charles art should be viewed for what it is in and of itself, art is not to be compared, neither is any artists to be compared with another, there is an artist in everyone God created.

Charles' Art is especially popular with the up and coming art market which includes new art collectors that have a feel for modern abstract art. Charles caters for the serious art collector who aims to invest in his freestyle art, and his oil paintings. Any art collector who can see the potential in this young artist will see returns on his investment in as little as 3 years. With the painting value increasing nearly every 6 months, Charles is one of South Africa's most promising young artists. Along with newly weds who are in the process of starting an affordable art collection for their homes, interior decorators and restaurant owners also appreciate the simplicity and decorative aspect of his work. Charles' art makes the room become part of the art as apposed to the sometimes dull and mundane art pieces that unsuccessfully tries to pull all the attention to itself. The room becomes the artwork, as his use of colour compliments almost any contemporary decorations and furniture.

Charles has a sensitivity to the needs of others as portrayed in his work as a missionary evangelist. He regularly visits rural areas and the like in South Africa and abroad. Bringing hope to the hopeless and the message of a better tomorrow, he sees every effort, even the least, as being great in the sight of God when we are moved to do so in love. The money generated by the paintings support a substantial part of his work in the mission fields of Africa and the world as he preaches of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
